Divisibility Rule for 1

If you divide a number by 1 and you get a whole number as an answer (quotient), then that number is divisible by 1.

Instead of simply dividing your number by 1 to see if you get a whole number, you can use what we call the Divisibility Rule for 1.

The Divisibility Rule for 1 is used to determine if a number is divisible by 1. You can also call it the test of divisibility for 1.

The divisibility rules for 1 are pretty easy. All whole numbers are divisible by 1.

For example, 43,492 is divisible by 1 because 43,492 is a whole number.

However, 42.49 is not divisible by 1 because it is not a whole number.
