Divisibility Rule for 2

If you divide a number by 2 and you get a whole number as an answer (quotient), then that number is divisible by 2.

Instead of simply dividing your number by 2 to see if you get a whole number, you can use what we call the Divisibility Rule for 2.

The Divisibility Rule for 2 is used to determine if a number is divisible by 2. You can also call it the test of divisibility for 2.

A number is divisible by 2 if the last digit in the number is even. Even numbers are 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8.

For example, 59,498 is divisible by 2 because 8 is an even number.

However, 288,883 is not divisible by 2 because 3 is not an even number.
