Divisibility Rule for 5

If you divide a number by 5 and you get a whole number as an answer (quotient), then that number is divisible by 5.

Instead of simply dividing your number by 5 to see if you get a whole number, you can use what we call the Divisibility Rule for 5.

The Divisibility Rule for 5 is used to determine if a number is divisible by 5. You can also call it the test of divisibility for 5.

A number is divisible by 5 if the last digit in the number is 0 or 5.

For example, 493,235 is divisible by 5 because 5 is the last digit.

However, 555,004 is not divisible by 5 because the last digit is 4 (not 0 or 5).
