Divisibility Rule for 24

If you divide a number by 24 and you get a whole number as an answer (quotient), then that number is divisible by 24.

Instead of simply dividing your number by 24 to see if you get a whole number, you can use what we call the Divisibility Rule for 24.

The Divisibility Rule for 24 is used to determine if a number is divisible by 24. You can also call it the test of divisibility for 24.

A number is divisible by 24 if it is divisible by 3 AND 8.

For example, 29,616 is divisible by 24 because it is divisible by both 3 and 8. However, 29,619 is not divisible by 24 because although it is divisible by 3, it is not divisible by 8.

Remember, both conditions must be met for the number to be divisible by 24.
