Divisibility Rule for 19

If you divide a number by 19 and you get a whole number as an answer (quotient), then that number is divisible by 19.

Instead of simply dividing your number by 19 to see if you get a whole number, you can use what we call the Divisibility Rule for 19.

The Divisibility Rule for 19 is used to determine if a number is divisible by 19. You can also call it the test of divisibility for 19.

To determine if a number is divisible by 19, take the last digit and multiply it by 2. Then add that to the rest of the number. If the result is divisible by 19, then the number is divisible by 19.

For example, 475 is divisible by 19 because 47 + (5 x 2) = 57, and 57 is divisible by 19.

However, 575 is not divisible by 19 because 57 + (5 x 2) = 67, and 67 is not divisible by 19.
